Easyfood's Optislim Life Program on Track in India First Order Received Expected Sales of $17 Million in First Year

Innovative Australian food company, EasyFood Limited, has secured its first order valued at $450,000 from the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD). The order for 200,000 meals will supply 300 pharmacies in Maharashtra state for the launch of the 'Optislim Life' Program in India scheduled for April 2010. The Program and products will carry the endorsement of Diabetes India.

The Program in India forms a part of EasyFood's international expansion program, focusing on specially designed ready meals for specific markets.

The AIOCD represents 550,000 pharmacist members and delivers to 60,000 pharmacies throughout India. The Program targets the market for dietary meals in India, and is forecast to generate sales of around $17 million in the first year. By the third year, the Program is expected to provide over 200 million dietary meals and meal supplements throughout India.

India may seem an unlikely location to launch a range of diet meals. Yet Diabetes India estimates that there were over 40 million cases of Type 2 Diabetes in India in 2007, due mainly to obesity-related issues, and forecasts that this will increase to 60 million by 2015. The specially designed meal programs are aimed at reducing the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes in India.

In commenting on the expansion into the diet food market in India, Paul Grogan, Managing Director, EasyFood said:

"The pre-diabetic market in India is a huge opportunity for Easyfood, and we are privileged to have the support of AIOCD and Diabetes India for the OptiSlim Life Program. We have extensive expertise developed over many years in formulating quality meals for specific dietary requirements, and believe we can help provide an effective solution to dealing with the issue of Type 2 Diabetes in India.

"The key to EasyFood's success is its advanced technology which allows high quality food, including meat dishes, to be stored at room temperature for up to 18 months. The pressure and heat processes used in producing the meals allow essential nutrients to be controlled and retained and for quick and easy preparation after purchase."
