E-commerce Website Introduces Group Buy Service to Help Consumers Save Together

28 July 2009

Group Buy is a new service which will launch today on Australian e-commerce website, OfferMe.com.au.

The concept behind the new service is 'volume discount'. Under the new service, a seller gives out a discount price based on the volume they want to sell in one go, then everyone can join to purchase the item. Once the volume required by the seller is met, the seller will honour the volume discount price and ship out the goods. If the volume required cannot be met within a set period of time, then the deal will expire, and there will be no charge to either buyers or seller.

With the appeal of volume discount price tags, OfferMe General Manager James Wang believes that with buyers now more keen than ever to grab a bargain, the new service on OfferMe will be a hit. "The volume discount concept is old school. Before, it was near impossible for one person to get a good volume discount - you don't just go out and buy 10 LCD TVs. Now that the internet provides new ways to do business, we can easily have ten people buying ten units from one seller in one go on our website, even if all the buyers are from different areas."

The website's focus on buying power unification will put a new spin on the volume discount concept. As users have already registered their interest on the products they want to purchase on the website, it's a lot easier for the website to go out and negotiate fantastic volume discount deals for them.
