Fitness industry wins two national awards.

The Fitness Industry last night claimed two major awards, with the Australian Fitness Expo winning Best Trade Show over 10,000 square metres and Best Australian Show at the Exhibition and Event Association of Australia (EEAA) Awards for Excellence.

The awards recognise outstanding achievement within the Australasian exhibition and events industry and showcase members' innovation, performance and success throughout the year.

"The fitness industry is at the forefront in exercise and health and now, it seems, in exhibitions," said Fitness Australia CEO, Lauretta Stace.

"Fitness Australia is a proud partner of the Australian Fitness Expo, and was excited by yet another great achievement of the industry," she said.

The Australian Fitness Expo is the industry's largest expo and covers everything from fitness and training equipment to spa, yoga and everything in between. The expo attracts more than 17,000 trade and consumer visitors and connects attendees with manufacturers, suppliers and retailers in the health and fitness industry.

"Diversified Exhibitions have done a great job in the production of this event for many years, and Fitness Australia is glad to see one of it's strategic partners doing so well," said Fitness Australia General Manager Operation, Robert Barnes.

"Fitness Australia always has the interests of the greater industry in mind, and it has shown another wise decision in being a partner to this award winning expo," Mr. Barnes said.

Fitness Australia will again be partnering the expo in 2009, and will be on site with a cutting edge stand of their own.

"To receive recognition [as] the best Australian show is a real thrill and demonstrates the commitment of our team to continually provide a relevant and cutting edge exhibition," said Ashley Robertson, Exhibition Manager, Australian Fitness Expo.

"Winning these two awards reflects our position as the pinnacle event for the fitness industry and our understanding of the exhibitions marketplace," Ashley said.

Fitness Australia is also a partner of other leading fitness events around Australia and maintains its diligence in seeking opportunities to assist in developing opportunities for the industry.
