Commonwealth Bank Releases Sustainability Report 2010
Sydney, 21 October: The Commonwealth Bank today released its annual Sustainability Report,
which covers the Group’s sustainability initiatives and achievements over the 2009-10 financial
year.
Commonwealth Bank Group Executive, Ms Barbara Chapman, said the release of the report
demonstrates the Group’s determination to continue to build a sustainable business.
“We recognise that the sustainability of our business is about delivering long-term value to our
customers, people, shareholders and the community,” Ms Chapman said.
The Commonwealth Bank Sustainability Report 2010 focuses on the Group’s five key sustainability
foundations – Customers, People, Community, Environment and Governance.
“The report provides a solid overview of the Group’s activities and performance across our five
sustainability foundations and covers the many ways in which we are working towards our goals in
each of these areas. The report also reflects on the past twelve months to provide an overview of
more recent achievements.
“As a leader in the community, we recognise the importance in proactively and transparently
communicating our sustainability initiatives, activities and achievements, not only to our people and
shareholders, but to our customers and the broader Australian community,” Ms Chapman said.
Throughout the 2009-10 year, the Group’s focus remained on delivering customer service
excellence to its customers and creating a stronger organisational culture where our people are
engaged, passionate and valued. The Group also has an established commitment to its
environmental sustainability program and reducing its direct and indirect environmental impact.
The Group is committed to sustainability and will continue the challenge of pursuing a broad
definition of corporate sustainability to ensure its policies and practices support customers, people,
the environment, the community and rigorous corporate governance.
