Commenting on the results, Greg Kenny, Managing Director for St.George Bank Northern NSW said: "These results show strong momentum for the St.George Bank brand in NSW home lending, business lending and deposit growth is strong and we've continued to maintain significant market share and high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.

"This year, St.George settled on a total of $12 billion of home loans in NSW & ACT alone, which meant that we were able to assist over 50,000 people with new loans or refinancing their mortgage," said Mr Kenny.

"NSW continues to be a major focus for St.George and we're planning substantial investment in the State. This includes increasing employee numbers with up to 100 new roles over the next 12 to 18 months and expanding our branch numbers and ATM networks to further increase customer convenience," said Mr Kenny.

In 2010 and 2011, St.George Bank is planning on opening new branches in NSW & ACT and refurbishing select existing branches with ATM numbers also expected to grow.

St.George Bank has continued its commitment to supporting local communities by way of new brand sponsorships. As well as sponsoring the St.George Illawarra Dragons, St.George Bank is now also the major sponsor of the St.George District Cricket Club in Sydney.

"These initiatives and further investment in the St.George Bank brand mean that local communities benefit directly. St.George provides a competitive alternative to the Big Four. We're big enough to service all of our customers' needs but small enough to provide very personalised and localised financial solutions," said Mr Kenny.
