Ansaldo STS wins contract to manage Copenhagen Metro
Signalling and Transportation Solutions company Ansaldo STS (STS.MI) has won a
AU$284 million
contract
to operate and maintain Copenhagen's
driverless metro system
during the next five years.
Ansaldo STS provided the engineering, systems integration, rail electrification equipment
and vehicles for the driverless system, and has been involved in its management since it
commenced operating in October 2002.
In 2009 the Copenhagen Metro was named “Best driverless metro”, and in 2008 was
awarded “Best metro in the world” and “Best metro in Europe”.
From Italy (Rome Metro Line C, Milan Metro Line 5) to Taiwan (Taipei Circular Line), from
Greece (Thessaloniki and Brescia Metros) to Saudi Arabia (Riyadh Women’s University),
Ansaldo STS’ expertise in driverless rail systems is now being applied worldwide.
