Antonio Maciel Neto of Suzano Wins Nomination for RISI's 2009 Latin American CEO of the Year

RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, today announced that Suzano's
Chief Executive Officer, Antonio Maciel Neto, has been selected as Latin American CEO of the Year for 2009.
Maciel was nominated for the award via a survey of investment analysts and portfolio managers covering the
forest products industry. The criteria for nomination include leadership, vision and strategic accomplishment. The
investment community overwhelmingly recognized Mr. Maciel for bringing Suzano through the economic crisis with
nearly no damages and credited his good business sense.
The 2009 award will be presented to Mr. Maciel on Monday, November 16 at RISI's 4th annual Latin American
Pulp & Paper Outlook Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Mr. Maciel will also give a presentation on how the global
economic crisis has impacted the Latin American pulp and paper market and will participate in the CEO Panel at

Antonio Maciel Neto became CEO of Suzano Papel e Celulose S/A on June 1, 2006. He is member of the Board
of Directors of ADM (Archer Daniels Midland) and of Marfrig Frigorificos e Comercio de Alimentos S.A. He is also a
member of Advisory Board of Ayrton Senna Institute. From 1999 to May 2006 held important positions in the Ford
organization in South America, including President of Ford South America Operations and Vice-president of the
Ford Motor Company. From 1993 to 1999 he was Chairman of the Itamarati Group, Ferronorte Participacoes S.A.
(Ferropasa) and Cecrisa Revestimentos Ceramicos S.A. He was also Chairman of the Board of Ferroban and a
member of the Board of Directors of Gradiente Eletronica S.A., and Cecrisa. Previously, he was Executive
Secretary of the Brazilian Trade and Industry Ministry, and was with Petrobras for ten years. He has a degree in
mechanical engineering from Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UFRJ).

Suzano Pulp and Paper -- (Bovespa: SUZB5, OTC: SUZBY and Latibex: XSUB) is one of Latin America's largest
vertically integrated producers of paper and eucalyptus pulp. It currently has five industrial units: Suzano, Rio Verde
and Embu, in the interior of Sao Paulo state, Mucuri in Bahia state and the Company also retains an indirect 50%
controlling stake in Ripasa S.A Celulose e Papel, a Company that produces pulp, printing and writing paper, special
paper, paperboard and lightly cardboard, and has an integrated industrial unit producing pulp and paper at

new production lines will be set up in the south of Maranhao State, and are scheduled to start up in 2013; in Piaui,
to start production as from 2014, and a third line whose exact site location and startup are yet to be defined.
