Antonio Maciel Neto of Suzano Wins Nomination for RISI's Latin American CEO of the Year for
the Second Year Running
SAO PAULO, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products
industry, today announced that Suzano's Chief Executive Officer, Antonio Maciel
Neto, has been selected as Latin American CEO of the Year for 2010.
For the second year running, Maciel was nominated for the award via a
survey of investment analysts and portfolio managers covering the forest
products industry. The nominations are based on such criteria as leadership,
vision and company performance. In nominating Maciel for the award, many
analysts commented on Suzano's new biomass project which has produced a high
level of interest in the trade and impressed the analysts with the company's
forward thinking and commitment to delivering on future trends. Maciel's
management during the global downturn was also praised with one analyst
commenting that "Suzano has been lead in an austere way with an aggressive
cycle of growth and a strategy to vary its portfolio."
Mr. Maciel commented on his nomination, "This second nomination wasn't
possible without our 4,000 employees' commitment to Suzano's sustainable way of
doing business. This award gave us the certainty that the company has built a
strong and solid basis for its strategic growth plan."
The 2010 award will be presented to Mr. Maciel on November 22 at RISI's 5th
Latin American Pulp and Paper Outlook Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He will
