Comba Launches Cell-Split Antenna Portfolio

HONG KONG, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire-Asia-AsiaNet/ --

Doubles Wireless Network Capacity Enables Significant Cost Savings for Operators

Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited ("Comba" or the "Group", Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a

leading wireless solutions provider, announced today the commercial availability of its new cell-split antenna

portfolio to the global market. Compatible with 2G and UMTS networks, the latest antenna solution from

Comba allows operators to increase its network capacity with minimal incremental base station investment,

thereby offering operators a compelling value proposition for cost savings.

Developed through intense research and development at Comba's R&D facilities, the cell-split antenna

enables higher capacity through flexible high order sectorization (HOS) that optimizes frequency reuse in the

traffic channel. Studies have indicated that through optimized frequency reuse in traffic channels, HOS can

almost double the capacity of GSM and UMTS networks when deployed. Featuring a robust and compact

chassis, the cell-split antennas are designed for maximum flexibility and ease of installation, thus enabling

rapid deployment with small footprint for both new network rollouts and capacity expansion in existing

networks.

For capacity expansion in existing networks, deploying Comba's high gain, cell-split antennas allows

operators a rapid and inexpensive doubling of capacity option, and more importantly to defer adding further

base station sites and the associated site acquisition costs. The cell-split antenna is especially suitable for new

network rollouts since it enables operator maximum flexibility in scalability and network optimization with faster

payback times on BTS site and node B investments.

Ms Carol Ye, Director of Comba's Antenna and Subsystems division said, "We are pleased to bring our

latest antenna featuring cell-split technology to the market. In the current market conditions, operators are

frequently facing the dilemma of minimizing the financial bottom line against addressing demands on network

capacity which traditionally requires significant investment. Comba's high gain, cell-split antennas help

address this issue with an efficient and cost-effective solution."

Ms Ye concluded, "In fact this is a market-proven solution - the cell-split antenna had been undergoing in

trials with a number of operators over the past few months, with positive feedback. We are pleased to say that

we have recently received a significant order for a large number of cell-split antennas from an operator in

India."

    Cell-Split Antenna Key Features:

    * Models available for the following frequency ranges: 806-960MHz,

      824 - 894MHz and 1710 - 2170MHz

    * Low-cost coverage and smooth expansion of capacity based on cell-split

      technology

    * Composed of 4 sub-arrays

    * Up to 21dBi gain (depending on frequency range model)
