David Atkins Enterprises Delivers the Outdoor Opening Ceremony of Expo 2010 Shanghai
China
SHANGHAI, Apr. 30 /PRNewswire-Asia-AsiaNet/ --
As the World Expo officially kicked off, David Atkins Enterprises (DAE) stunned
the world with the largest outdoor multimedia display in history at the Opening
Ceremony, which took place Friday, April 30, 2010 at 20:10 CST.
"This is the first time an overseas company has been invited to independently
create and produce an event of such scale within China," said David Atkins, Executive
Producer and Artistic Director of the Outdoor Opening Ceremony. "We are deeply
honored to have worked so closely with the Expo team over the past three years, on
creating a ceremony worthy of showcasing China-and the great city of Shanghai-to the
world."
As China pulls out all stops to stage the largest World Expo since its 1851
inception, anticipation reached fever pitch for the first Opening Ceremony of this
magnitude. The show was a non-stop pageant of fireworks, lights, lasers, LED
graphics, fountains, boats and music. It set numerous world records, such as the
biggest LED screen, the largest searchlight installation and one of the largest
pyrotechnic displays ever created. The 30-minute Outdoor Ceremony took place along a
3.4 km stretch of the Huangpu River in central Shanghai.
An estimated global audience of 3 billion watched DAE's most recent success --
the Opening, Closing and Victory Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter
Games. As DAE delivered yet another groundbreaking show, Ignatius Jones, Artistic
Director, said, "We're thrilled to have brought this amazing event to life, as
Shanghai cements her status as one of the world's greatest cities and China raises
the bar for Expos of the future."
This announcement comes on the heels of DAE's rapid expansion into Asia, Europe
and North America, supporting increased demand for the company's elite creative
services.
DAE also created and produced the ceremonies of the Doha 2006 Asian Games, the
Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, as well as the Handover Ceremony of the Melbourne 2006
Commonwealth Games.
