MEDIA RELEASE PR39139
External Directors for The Aviiid Foundation Announced
SYDNEY, Apr. 14/Medianet International-AsiaNet/ --
The Aviiid Foundation today announced the appointment of two independent directors to its Board - Christopher Baynes,
a volunteer advocate, senior communities publisher and sustainable energy proponent, and Janne Ryan, a writer and
producer with extensive experience in community arts and business.
These appointments follow the launch of the charitable foundation's 'Snap and Click' community program. Conducted in
partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) and the Australian Centre for Photography, these photographic
workshops celebrate the artistic talent of older, everyday people with a touring exhibition launched at the MCA during NSW
Seniors Week 2010.
The Aviiid Foundation aims to inspire positive thinking about ageing and the aged. It is committed to supporting
innovative and creative endeavours that benefit people aged 55 and over - or in their 'Third-age' of living - through social,
well-being, cultural, economic or other means.
Christopher Baynes regularly facilitates resident focus groups as editor of Australia's leading retirement community
magazine. He is a co-founder of DCM Solar and DCM Energy, providing sustainable energy services to the retirement
sectors. His volunteer sector experience includes the International Association for Volunteer Effort and the Points of Life
Foundation. He sits on the Advisory Self-Care Review Board of UnitingCare and is a regular radio commentator and
contributor to the curriculum of the Aged & Community Services Association and the Retirement Village Association.
Janne Ryan is a writer for the Australian Financial Review, co-producer of award-winning media including several works
on ABC TV and curator of TEDxSydney. On ABC Radio's, By Design, she shares dialogue with industry leaders in
residential design, community living, neighbourhood planning and senior housing. She has produced many Radio National
flagship shows and has founded numerous community arts engagement organisations.
