H.C. Starck: Sputtering Target Manufacturer for Thin Film PV Energy Applications to
Attend EXPO Solar 2010 in Seoul, South Korea

EUCLID, Ohio, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --

H.C. Starck's Fabricated Products Group is attending the upcoming EXPO Solar 2010
exhibition in Seoul, South Korea, February 3-5, 2010. YongHoon Jeong from H.C.
Starck's office in Seoul will be available to discuss their rotary target products
for the Thin Film PV Solar Energy market.

H.C. Starck is actively promoting its planar and rotary sputtering targets for
thin films PV (TFPV) energy applications in response to demand to lower the cost per
watt in the rapidly growing photovoltaic industry. Particular emphasis is being given
to molybdenum and nickel based monolithic rotary targets for CIGS, CdTe and a-Si
(amorphous silicon) technologies.

Focusing on CIGS, a-Si (amorphous silicon) and CdTe thin films solar module
manufacturers, H.C. Starck has been developing and successfully producing custom
sputter targets in molybdenum (Mo) and nickel based (Ni) alloys along with its other
core competency materials: tantalum (Ta), niobium (Nb) and tungsten (W).

The extruded rotary targets from H.C. Starck offer superior sputtering
performance being virtually fully dense and having extremely low oxygen levels. One
of the world's largest producers of molybdenum powders, as well as tungsten and
tantalum, H.C. Starck is vertically integrated with expertise in reducing, pressing
and sintering these high performance materials and finishing them for market.

H.C. Starck has best in class production capabilities with its premier extrusion
facilities and its 5,000 metric ton direct extrusion press. H.C. Starck can produce
molybdenum rotary targets with inside diameters of 125 mm (monolithic) and 135 mm
(bonded) applications in molybdenum up through the current largest rotary target
requirement. Tantalum, niobium, nickel-vanadium and other materials also can be
produced in planar or rotary form. Targets in lengths of 4 m (or more) can be
produced per customer specification.

    H.C. Starck's R&D facilities include a state-of-the-art Thin Film Materials Lab
equipped with sputtering tools plus the supporting equipment for testing film
characteristics. Customers benefit from in-house prototyping, modeling and analytical
capabilities.
