Japan's Makoto Soejima Wins $15,000 Algorithm Competition at 2010 TopCoder Open in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Oct.15 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
TopCoder(R), Inc., the leader in online programming competition, skills assessment and competitive
software development platforms, today announced that Makoto Soejima of Japan, is the Algorithm
Competition Champion of the 2010 TopCoder Open (TCO), the world's foremost competitive computer
programming and creative design tournament. He earned a $15,000 prize in this, his first TopCoder Open
appearance. Soejima, known by his TopCoder Community handle 'rng_58', was one of eight Championship
finalists representing Japan, China, South Africa, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
Soejima, a TopCoder member since 2007, is Japan's top-ranked TopCoder member and third ranked in the
entire TopCoder Community.
"I like computational problems that are hard to think through and analyze, but easy to implement," said
Soejima. "I am very happy to be the new Algorithm Champion."
The event took place October 11th -14th at the MGM Mirage in Las Vegas as 82 top performers from
around the world competed across multiple tracks for a share of $150,000 in prizes. More details are available
