Leighton Contractors announces distribution partnership with BladeRoom energy efficient data centres in Australia and New Zealand
Leighton Contractors owned data centre specialist, Metronode has entered into an agreement with BladeRoom Group Limited to distribute the BladeRoom data centre system in Australia and New Zealand. The agreement provides for the supply, maintenance and local manufacture of energy efficient data centre technology.
The General Manager of Metronode, Malcolm Roe, said the new partnership was reflective of the common objective shared by both companies to establish world-class, sustainable data centres.
"Leighton Contractors and its data centre business, Metronode are industry leaders in understanding what key users require having been building and operating data centres for many years," he said.
"BladeRoom data centres offer one of the lowest operating costs of any data centre available today, with leading Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) in any climate and at any load. With a PUE below 1.15 in south eastern Australia, the BladeRoom system reduces data centre energy usage by up to 50 per cent compared to standard data centres currently."
Mr Roe said the new system will also help solve a number of challenges for the company.
"BladeRoom's innovative system will also assist in planning a new data centre. Capital investment can now better track planned growth and allow for the provision of 'just in time' data centre capacity.
"Site requirements for Metronode will also be dramatically simplified with the new system. BladeRoom's flexibility suits the smaller distributed node and metropolitan data exchange needs of our content and telecommunications customers. It also scales easily to support the very largest data centre requirements of IT system integrators and major corporations.
"The Australian and New Zealand markets are suffering from an under-supply of new generation data centre capacity and we're proud to be working in partnership with BladeRoom to meet this demand."
The Managing Director of BladeRoom, Paul Rogers, said the company was pleased to be working with Metronode across Australia and New Zealand.
"Metronode really impressed us during the negotiations leading up to this Agreement," he said.
"Their passion for the 'greening' of data-centres is apparent and Leighton Contractors can-do capability makes them stand-out partners for us in the Asia-Pacific region."
BladeRoom Group companies have over 20 years experience in designing and producing mission critical facilities for blue chip and government clients around the world, and are one of the world's leading supplier of technically complex, rapidly delivered, factory built modular facilities.
With over 9,000 employees across Australia and New Zealand, Leighton Contractors is a member of the Greenhouse Challenge Plus program. An initiative of the Federal Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, the Greenhouse Challenge Plus program enables Leighton Contractors to form working partnerships with the Australian Government to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
