Logwin Forges Ahead in the Far East
HONG KONG, Nov. 10/PRNewswire-Asia-AsiaNet/ --
Global logistics provider reports positive development in Far East following its rebranding one year ago which
has been accompanied by management changes and an expansion into new markets
Logwin, one of the world's leading providers of global transportation and freight forwarding services, today
announced that a number of significant milestones have been achieved in the Far East region since the
company rebranded from its former name of Birkart Globistics one year ago.
Over the past twelve months, the company has not only consolidated all of its subsidiaries under one brand,
but has also taken steps to strengthen its core capabilities and geographical network through the introduction
of new service offerings and trade routes, as well as a newly appointed senior management team for the Far
East region.
Logwin has invested heavily in the development of its Pan Asia network. As an example, this has included
the launch of shipping lanes between Shanghai and Bangkok amongst other routes, plus the strengthening of
its geographical presence in emerging markets such as India and Vietnam.
Major investments have also been made into developing new niche and vertical markets within the region,
which notably has included the introduction of tailored transportation and freight forwarding services for the
fashion and retail industry, allowing customers in this sector to enjoy customized end-to-end shipping solutions
that range from warehousing and pick 'n' pack services, to value added solutions and quality control.
Along with the restructure, there has been a strengthening of the company's leadership team in the Far East
that, with immediate effect, includes the appointment of the following four senior executives:
-- Mr. Tomas Sonntag has been appointed as Logwin's Regional Managing
Director, Far East. Based in Hong Kong, Mr. Sonntag joins Logwin with 30
years experience in the transportation and freight forwarding industry,
the last 15 years of which have been spent in Taiwan, Singapore and
Hong Kong.
-- Mr. Henk Westerhoek, who joined Logwin in early 2008, has been
appointed to the position of Managing Director of Logwin China. Mr.
Westerhoek has a strong background in the logistics and shipping sector
in the region, having spent most of his life living in China. Earlier
this year, Mr. Westerhoek was awarded the Magnolia Silver Award by the
Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai
Municipal Government, in recognition of his long, outstanding
contribution to the development of the city.
-- Mr. Scott McArthur joins as the company's new Regional Sales and
Marketing Director, Far East. Mr. McArthur brings over 18 years of
professional experience to the position with an international career
that has spanned Europe, Africa, the Mainland China and Hong Kong.
-- Mr. Maik Juengst will serve as Logwin's newly appointed Chief
Representative for Vietnam. Mr. Juengst has extensive experience in
shipping and transportation, with an enviable track record that has
included senior appointments in the United States, Europe, Singapore
and Thailand.
Commenting on the latest developments, Mr. Tomas Sonntag, Logwin's Regional Managing Director, Far
East, expressed that the company had made considerable progress over the last year in terms of
strengthening its geographical network, core product offerings and expertise in the Asia region.
Mr. Sonntag explains, "All changes have been completely customer driven, with greater emphasis in
particular being placed on the strengthening and expansion of our service capabilities and network in the Far
East.
"As a result, our shipping and logistic customers in the region can enjoy more choices in their shipping
options, whilst benefit from an expanded domestic portfolio of services, all supported by Logwin's reliable,
global network," he concluded.
