Logwin in Thailand Celebrates its 20th Anniversary

HONG KONG, Nov. 24/PRNewswire-Asia-AsiaNet/ --

International logistics company commemorates long history of success and expansion in Thailand

Logwin, a leading provider of global logistics and transportation services, is celebrating its 20th anniversary

in Thailand this year. Logwin in Thailand was established in 1989 with just three employees but has since

grown to three offices and 74 people.

Today, Logwin's three Thai offices are strategically located at the Bangkok Port and Customs Department,

Suvarnabhumi International Airport and the deep sea port of Laem Chabang. Together, these facilities offer a

full range of transportation services that include air and sea freight, land transportation, customs clearance,

project management and logistics, as well as warehousing and distribution.

Over the 20 years that Logwin has had a presence in Thailand, the company has grown to become one of

the major players in the Thai logistics market, after initially establishing operations in the mid 1980's to meet

increasing demand for freight-related services that were required to support the prolific growth of exports from

Thailand to the United States and Europe.

Prior to 1989, Logwin's business in Thailand was managed by local agents under the supervision of its

sister operation, Logwin in Singapore. "Over the past two decades, we have enjoyed both a rich and varied

history in Thailand," says Mr. Willie Wedemeyer, Managing Director of Logwin in Thailand.

"Throughout this time, Logwin, which was formally known as Birkart Globistics, has always been committed

to the development of the transportation and shipping infrastructure in the region. This has included working

diligently to lay the foundations that have contributed to establishing Thailand as a major service centre and

logistics hub in the Far East region," he continues.

Commenting on the company's achievements in the Thai market, Mr. Wedemeyer cites the group's

pioneering spirit, strong customer focus and understanding of local market requirements as key attributes that

have contributed to the group's dynamic growth and expansion in Thailand.

"Providing dependable transportation and shipping solutions, coupled with our ability to continually introduce

value-added services, and greater choices for our clients, has without a doubt contributed to our success in

Thailand."

Mr. Wedemeyer also praised his team in Thailand, remarking that Logwin's achievements in the local

market were in large part due to the expertise and professionalism of their staff who had helped the company

build a reputation over the years as being one of the most experienced, knowledgeable and reliable service

providers in the Thai market.

He points out, "In fact, I am pleased to declare that two of the three original employees that joined Logwin

when we first started operations in Thailand in 1989 are still employed by the company!"

Logwin's Far East Regional Managing Director, Mr. Tomas Sonntag agrees. "On this special occasion, I

wish to personally take this opportunity to thank our outstanding team of employees in Thailand, who even

during times of crisis, have continued to deliver solid results by delivering solutions and services that have

always served the best interests of our customers."

Mr. Sonntag adds, "Reflecting on our first 20 years of business in Thailand, we are also deeply grateful to

each and every one of our customers and, on behalf of the management at Logwin, we wish to thank them for

their support and confidence. For the future, we look forward to continuing our close co-operation with each of

our customers, partners, employees and other members of the Thai community, to work with them to take on

even bigger challenges and more exciting opportunities."
