Melbourne Airport Standardizes on VideoSphere Solution for Security, Monitoring and Strategic Transition

to IP Video

OTTAWA, Aug. 25 /CNW Telbec-AsiaNet/ --

March Networks(R) (TSX:MN), a leading provider of intelligent IP video and business analysis applications,

announced today that Australia Pacific Airports Melbourne Pty Ltd (APAM) is expanding its existing March

Networks CCTV system significantly and enhancing surveillance and monitoring capabilities with the Company's

VideoSphere(TM) solution.

Responsible for the security of more than 24 million domestic and international travelers annually and over 30

percent of Australia's airfreight market, Melbourne Airport staff are using the March Networks systems to

monitor activities in real-time and quickly access high-quality archived video from a centralized control room. They

are also using the IP video to maintain customer service and operational excellence, through applications such as

taxi queue monitoring, luggage trolley tracking, and baggage handling oversight.

Working with experienced March Networks solution provider Nedax Systems (Australia) Pty Ltd, APAM is

transitioning its hard-wired analog camera infrastructure to the IP network with VideoSphere Edge Encoders

connected to March Networks IP recording platforms. The phased deployment also includes VideoSphere Decode

Stations, which facilitate the management and operational interaction with the CCTV system from several different

airport locations. In addition, a large number of VideoSphere fixed and megapixel PTZ IP cameras will be installed

in strategic locations as part of a planned expansion of terminal and gate facilities.

Mid-way through a five-year $330 million expansion project, which will add 25,000 square meters (269,098

square feet) of new space to its international Terminal 2 facilities, APAM expects to more than double its

video surveillance capacity by 2011.

"Our March Networks surveillance solution is a multi-faceted system supporting many aspects of the business,"

said Darren Hatty, CCTV Administrator, Melbourne Airport. "Its applications not only include security,

but also traffic and airside operations, passenger safety, and baggage services. As demand for CCTV throughout

the airport continues to increase, we expect to recognize further operational benefits from the system."

March Networks opened a regional office in Sydney, Australia, in June 2009 to better serve its expanding

customer base and address new growth opportunities in Asia Pacific. Existing March Networks customers in the

region include Singapore Land Transport Authority, the Bank of New Zealand, Wellington Airport and several other

large organizations in the transportation, banking and retail sectors.

"With the Company's successes to date securing high profile projects such as Melbourne Airport, we are well

positioned to establish ourselves as a key supplier throughout the Asia Pacific region," said Peter Strom, President

and CEO, March Networks. "We see significant growth opportunities for the VideoSphere portfolio across a wide

range of sectors, and look forward to partnering with experienced systems integrators to deliver our solutions to

this market."
