NEC Australia Appoints First Australian MD
Appointment signals serious focus on local market

Melbourne, 11 October, 2010: NEC Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation (HQ: Japan), today announced the appointment of Alan Hyde as Managing Director, the first non-Japanese head of the local business in its 41 year Australian history. Alan joins NEC having previously led SAP's Australian business and will replace the outgoing Wataru Takeuchi who returns to Japan. He takes up his post today.

The appointment of Alan Hyde, a highly respected Australian business leader, recognises the importance that local knowledge will play in the next phase of NEC's growth. Mr Hyde's leadership, significant experience and understanding of the Australian services market and his customer-centric approach will be a major advantage in driving new business for NEC Australia. This appointment marks a clear and serious signal of NEC's intent to focus on and accelerate the growth of its Systems Integration and Services businesses in Australia.

Mr Hyde spent five years at SAP as General Manager for the Northern Region before taking over as CEO in 2007. Before that he held a number of senior executive positions at PeopleSoft in Australia and the UK. He started his career in ICT at IBM in Australia, and most recently Mr Hyde has been acting in an advisory capacity on corporate strategy in the IT sector.
