Northern Trust Names Teresa Parker to Lead Asia-Pacific Businesses
SINGAPORE, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
Northern Trust announced today that Teresa A. Parker has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the
Asia-Pacific region, replacing Gregg D. Behrens, who will retire on Nov. 30.
Ms. Parker comes to the Asia-Pacific region from Northern Trust's London office, where she has held
leadership roles over the past 15 years, most recently as Executive Vice President and head of client servicing
for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
"Northern Trust's presence in Asia-Pacific continues to grow as we commit new resources and expertise to
serve our expanding client base in the region," Northern Trust President and Chief Executive Officer Frederick
H. Waddell said. "Teresa has a proven track record of leading partners across different regions to meet the
needs of large, sophisticated global clients. Her background is well-suited to our Asia-Pacific clients and to
Northern Trust's plans for growth in this region."
Ms. Parker, who joined Northern Trust in 1982, has held leadership positions in global custody operations
including serving as the head of worldwide asset servicing, securities lending and chief operating officer for
Europe, Middle East and Africa. Based in Singapore, Ms. Parker will be responsible for all business activity in
Northern Trust's Asia-Pacific offices, located in Bangalore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Singapore and
Tokyo.
Mr. Behrens is retiring after 35 years at Northern Trust. Named Northern Trust's first CEO of the Asia-
Pacific region in 2007, Mr. Behrens has established a regional management structure across all business
functions, including asset servicing, asset management and operations. His prior executive roles include
serving as head of Corporate & Institutional Services in North America, head of asset servicing in Europe,
Middle East and Africa, and head of national services for the Personal Financial Services business unit.
"Gregg has created a strong foundation of oversight, governance and risk management for measured and
sustainable growth in the Asia-Pacific region," Mr. Waddell said. "Over the years, he has been a tremendous
partner in all aspects of our business, ably representing Northern Trust in his professionalism, integrity and
enthusiastic leadership."
