St.George Restructures, Appoints New Managing Director for WA
St.George Bank has announced a corporate restructure across their retail and business banking divisions. The new structure is based on geographical regions with new Managing Directors appointed to each State.
St.George is pleased to announce that Malcolm Talbot has been appointed to the position of Managing Director for St.George Bank WA.
Mr Talbot said the rationale behind the restructure is to ensure that WA customers are directly represented on the St.George Bank Executive team, bringing them closer to senior management decision-making.
"This is about being closer to our customers and local WA communities. Enhancing customer relationships by region will allow St.George to provide the most responsive, tailored and personalised service in the market, offering full banking solutions," said Mr Talbot.
As the new Managing Director for WA, Malcolm has overall responsibility for St.George Bank's Western Australia business, representing WA customers on the Executive Committee and driving the business and market share forward.
"WA continues to be a major focus for St.George. Our recent branch expansion saw branch numbers increase from 1 in 2006 to 8 in 2009 and we're planning to add further staff to meet customer and business demand," said Mr Talbot.
"This year, St.George settled on a total of $1.9 billion of home loans in WA alone, which meant we were able to assist many West Australians with new home loans or refinancing their mortgage," continued Mr Talbot.
Malcolm was promoted to the role due to his exceptional performance in Victoria where he spent the past 7 years heading up St.George's Corporate & Business Bank division, presiding over a 5-fold increase in business. Malcolm has more than 30 years experience in banking, with 10 of these years working for St.George Bank.
"This new restructure means that St.George will provide a compelling alternative to the Big Four. We're big enough to service all of our customer's needs but small enough to provide personalised and localised financial solutions for WA customers," said Mr Talbot.
During 2009, St.George Bank has continued its commitment to supporting local communities in WA by way of brand sponsorships including the Claremont Football Club and Mandurah Crab Festival.
