TOUGH TIMES? NOT SO TOUGH AT MISTER MINIT
Mister Minit Box Hill wins Franchisee of the Year
Winning in tough times has not been so hard for Mister MINIT’s Franchisee, Darren Andonovski, and
Franchisee of the Year winner for 2009. There has been a lot of talk how tough conditions are in the retail
sector; this doesn’t apply to all business shown as shown by Darren.
The prestigious MYOB Excellence in Franchising Awards 2009 were held in Perth , Western Australia last
wednedsay night where Darren Andonovski was awarded with the Franchising Council of Australia (FCA)
‘Franchisee of the Year 2009’. These awards are eligible to all those involved in Franchising in Australia
encompassing 71,000 franchised businesses.
The FCA have a very rigorous process of selecting the award winners and the selection criteria included
overall contribution to franchising, values, people development, local initiatives, quality assurance, customer
service and trading results. Darren has an outstanding focus on delivering excellence in customer service to
the increasing number of customers at his Box Hill shop for the services of shoe repairs, key duplication,
engraving and watch repairs. As well as a dedication to best practice business methods and performance,
Darren mentors other franchisees in the Mister MINIT system. As a market leader Mister MINIT continues to
innovate and lead with technology and having mentors such as Darren has been an integral part of growing
the Mister MINIT business.
Darren says, to win the Franchise Council of Australia (FCA), Franchisee of the Year award is a huge honor!
It is also very humbling given the quality of the other finalists. We base our business on being customer
focused, always striving for customer satisfaction. This is made easy by being in such a great community. I
have been in Box Hill for almost 7 years and thoroughly enjoy working here. The people here are fantastic!
My wife Rebecca and our Team Member Kelvin play a huge part in helping to run a successful business and
I can not thank them enough. We have three fantastic kids, Alix 5, Max 3 and Reese 1. Alix was thrilled with
the news that her Dad is the “Fried Cheese” of the year. My family means the world to me, and they are
what keep me continually motivated.
Mister Minit’s Chief Executive Officer, Mark Rusbatch, said many that know Darren attest to the fact that he
is an outstanding individual and a terrific representative for Mister MINIT. His performance as reflected by
the various benchmarking and trading criteria is first rate. However it’s the actions that lead to these results.
He is a great mentor, his involvement and leadership within the region’s franchising network shows the
quality of his character to others within the overall business and his customer satisfaction levels are of the
highest order.
Tough times provide opportunities for those with well run businesses.
