Ventyx Targets High-Growth Asia-Pacific Market with New Regional Senior Vice President Scot Spear

BEIJING, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --

Experienced Executive to Head Sales and Operations Across Region

Ventyx(R), the world's largest private software, data and advisory  services provider to the global energy

and utility industry, today announced  that Scot Spear has been named as Senior Vice President Asia-Pacific.

In this  new role, Spear will head the company's efforts to meet the region's  increasing demand for IT

solutions that help utilities meet 2010 business  challenges, such as expanding nuclear generation, increasing

infrastructure  reliability, enabling the Smart Grid and reducing carbon emissions.

"Scot has served as regional SVP in the past during our successful entry into global markets like Europe,

Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as well as into countries such as France,"

(http://www.ventyx.com/news/2008/11-18-08-EDF.asp) said Ventyx President and Chief Operating Officer

Steve Carpenter.  "We are following this model once again as we build out our presence in the  strategically

important Asia-Pacific region, especially in key markets like  China and Japan."

Spear has served in numerous leadership roles during his six-year tenure at Ventyx. During that time he

has led the company's sales and marketing efforts in the U.S., EMEA and in other international markets.

Spear's more than 20 years in the business software industry include stints at leading companies such as J.D.

Edwards and IBM. Before IBM, he served two full tours of duty as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.

"It is an exciting time to target the Asia-Pacific market, which really has a global influence in the energy

arena as a whole," said Spear. "Countries like China and Japan are playing leadership roles in areas such as

nuclear and climate change. And, utilities across the region are increasingly demanding solutions to support

the dramatic growth of the asset-intensive infrastructure across the utility spectrum, including electricity, gas,

water and telecommunications. Ventyx offers the industry's most comprehensive solution suite to meet this

demand, and I'm extremely proud and excited to lead our efforts in this region."
