ASA calls on MAp Independent Chair to answer questions
Wednesday, 23 September 2009
The Australian Shareholders Association has watched the developments around the internalisation
of management at Macquarie Airports (MAp) with interest.
ASA MAp Company Monitor Dan Steiner today commented on the Global Airports (GAP) proposal,
The proposal has raised a number of queries about the way in which the internalisation is being
carried out. Whilst the ASA makes no comment on either proposal, it is incumbent on the
independent directors of MAp to assure shareholders that the deal they have struck with
Macquarie is the best possible.
Referring to an open letter from GAP Chair, Michael Fitzpatrick, to the Chair of the MAp
Independent Board Committee, Mr Steiner commented, Mr Fitzpatrick has asked some extremely
good questions. They might not be questions which the average MAp shareholder would have
known to ask, but they are questions Mr Gerber should know the answers to.
Mr Steiner says, Shareholders deserve to know those answers before they decide how to cast
their vote on the internalisation proposal on 30 September.
