Ready, Set UniSuper Advice

UniSuper launched a comprehensive financial advice service to members today. The service will be known as UniSuper Advice.

Terry McCredden, UniSuper's CEO, said the new service will focus specifically on the needs of employees within the higher education and research sector and will be exclusive for UniSuper members and their partners.

"UniSuper Advice is a terrific addition to the range of educational and information services that UniSuper already provides to its members", McCredden said.

"Although UniSuper had been providing limited financial advice for many years, our members told us that they wanted access to comprehensive financial advice from someone who really understood the intricacies of their workplace."

UniSuper Advice will run on a strict fee-for-service basis. All advisers will be paid a salary and will not receive any commissions. The service will offer advice on all aspects of superannuation strategy, wealth creation, non-super investment and life insurance.

According to McCredden, "UniSuper now offers a full range of educational and advice services for its members; from workplace seminars, online tools and calculators through to complex, comprehensive financial advice".

UniSuper Advice will initially operate from offices located in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Members in other states and regional locations will be serviced remotely and by regular on-site visits. New offices in other central locations will open during 2010.

At the heart of UniSuper Advice is its Financial Advice Centre (FAC), a unique phone-based 'triage' centre for distilling the appropriate advice or education needs of members. The FAC is able to provide simple superannuation-related advice or can arrange for a face-to-face consultation with a UniSuper financial adviser.

UniSuper members can find out more information about UniSuper Advice at www.unisuper.com.au/advice or by calling the UniSuper Helpline on 1800 331 685.
