Corporate Treasurers to meet to discuss GFC ramifications
Australias corporate treasurers will meet in Sydney this week to review the impact of the global
financial crisis on corporate funding and financial strategies.
More than 250 of the nations senior financial managers will attend the 22nd
annual Finance
and Treasury Association
(FTA)
2009 Congress
to be held in Sydneys
Sheraton Hotel on
Thursday 29 October and Friday 30 October.
The theme of the Congress - Dollars and Sense Treasury Management in Turbulent Times -
that will feature a number of keynote speakers including:
Senator Helen Coonan, on regulatory intrusions in the capital markets;
Trevor Rowe AM, on recent lessons from the GFC and their relevance to the next five
years; and
Rob Ferguson, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive, IMF (Australia) on the near
collapse of the capital markets: bad luck or bad structure?
More than sixty senior finance and treasury executives will be presenting during the two-
day forum
that will also feature participants from overseas including Michael Rosenberg,
Bloombergs FX Strategist based in New York.
This years
Congress will focus on the importance to corporate strategy of robust treasury
strategies, appropriate capital structures and managing the balance sheet to endure
the business
cycle. Corporate Treasurers from many leading Australasian
companies will share insights on
these issues and provide thoughts on the impact of future market, regulatory and business
environment developments.
