PMs economic package will stimulate NSWs first home
buyers market
14 October 2008
The REINSW has welcomed the Prime Ministers economic stimulus package saying the
$1.5 billion first home buyers initiative will assist people acquiring their first property
By doubling the first home buyers grant to $14 000, the Prime Minister has helped address
the housing affordability issue for first time buyers, said REINSW President Steve Martin.
The tripling of the new home buyers grant to $21 000 is a positive signal to developers to
start building new stock and adding it to the market
Both initiatives are effective until the end of the 2008/2009 financial year.
This $1.5 billion package is the green light first home buyers have been waiting for.
This is great news for the property market as it will bring new home buyers in and create
jobs through the construction of new dwellings, said Mr. Martin.
