There’s Something Great in the Water

Just 45km South of Townsville is one of the few licensed and operating freshwater aquaculture

farms in North Queensland, and best of all, it’s available for lease.  With everything already set up

and all the equipment you will need for an immediate start, this really is a fantastic opportunity to

snap up.

Among the Red Claw and Silver Perch that have been successfully produced and marketed through

the Sydney Fish Markets, this property is also licensed to produce Australian Bass, Barcoo Grunter,

Eel Tail Catfish, Barramundi, Freshwater Shrimp, Murray Cod, Yabby, Gulf and Southern Saratoga

and three species of Golden Perch.

The 28 ponds, each holding approximately one mega litre of water, are supplied by a bore that has

been tested and is classed good enough to bottle and sell as spring water. This bore produces

approximately 5000 gallons per hour, all year round.

Production of Red Claw has consistently been yielding an average of 200kg/week since production

began in 1995, and Silver Perch production, which began in 2000, has seen the perch grow to about

800 grams or better (extra large size).

The farm has three phase power and is close to the primary school at Major Creek (three kilometres

away) which also has the bus collection point for the secondary school. Townsville has a population

of over 180, 000, is rapidly expanding and has a solid base in the local economy from both

government and industry.
