Tianfu International Community Set for Completion in October

CHENGDU,  Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-Asia-AsiaNet/ --

Chengdu High-Tech Industrial Development Zone creates western China's first living area for foreigners

Chengdu High-Tech Industrial Development Zone announces that on February 1 Tianfu International

Community, the first large living area for foreigners in western China, is set to be completed and opened in

October 2010. The residential district, designed to meet housing needs of foreigners in Chengdu, will provide

world-class services ranging from high-tech offerings such as 3G mobile Internet connectivity to a range of

services including a church, Chinese-English bilingual kindergartens and doctors at western-style hospitals.

The 250,000-square-meter district site is 160mu (approximately 106,670 square meters), with a plot ratio of

0.9. The project consists of residences, hotels, businesses, bilingual kindergartens and churches, creating a

high-quality international residential district integrating living, shopping, entertainment and business. A series

of high-end international projects such as International Headquarters Business Park, International Shopping

Business District and International Convention Center are also being constructed along with Tianfu

International Community.

The project, co-designed by Canada's Zeidler Partnership Architects and Japan's Kume Sekkei,

demonstrates the architectural features of modernity, internationalization, fashion and environmental

conservation, while seeking to meet foreigners' living and cultural needs.

The Tianfu International Community is designed to create a "Chinese home" for foreigners. Chengdu is

seeing an increasing influx of foreigners and international companies/organizations, providing development

opportunities and prospects in Chengdu against the backdrop of global industrial structure adjustments. As of

the end of 2009, Chengdu's foreign residents came from more than 130 countries and regions, and the

number of foreigners and people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan reached nearly 20,000. The figures are

now still on the rise.

The Tianfu International Community is located in the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone

(CDHT), which ranks 4th among all the 54

state-level hi-tech industrial development zones across China and first among all the hi-tech development

zones in central and western China in terms of overall competitiveness and is one of the six pilot parks

selected by China's central government for construction of world-class hi-tech development zones in the

country. As of October 2009, 863 foreign-invested enterprises, including 44 Fortune 500 and world-known

companies, such as Intel and Motorola, have invested in CDHT, with a total investment of US$9,174 million.

    About the Tianfu International Community

Located in the heart of New Tianfu City in CDHT, the Tianfu International Community covers an area of

160mu (approximately 106,670 square meters). With a total floor area of 250,000 square meters, the

community will include three districts, Phase One and Two and a business district. It is designed to meet

foreign residents' requirements for a wide range of business services with world-class facilities. It will feature

Chengdu's first community church and first villa area designed for foreigners.
