Christmas Festive or Frantic?
October 2008 (Sydney, Australia)
In the months leading up to Christmas 2007, 4600 articles were written in Australia about the stress
that comes with preparing for and buying Christmas gifts for friends and family. As much as
Christmas is the festive season, it seems its also a very stressful season. It is no secret that we are
living in an age where the average person is increasingly time poor and constantly seeking ways to
make their lives more efficient and less stressful. Saturdays used to be a day of rest with some sport
thrown in. Nowadays Saturdays have become days to house hunt, buy cars, shop, clean the house
and ferry kids between sporting events. Then throw in the mayhem of Christmas shopping and
ones weekend has all but disappeared.
But this Christmas could be easier thanks to a new website. The G Link is a more mature social
network that enables you to share your gift preferences for all important events e.g weddings,
birthdays, Christmas, baby showers etc. In addition to providing linked gift profiles, you can invite
people to parties. With everyones important dates viewable in your personalised event calendar
24/7.
I am very passionate about my friends and family and like to show them I care through the gifts I
buy stated Tracey who developed www.TheGLink.com. My friends and I do not get to spend as
much time together as we used to, so its harder to know exactly what gifts to buy at Christmas and
for other important occasions e.g. birthdays, housewarmings etc. I used to spend hours shopping
for that special something, but often Id walk out with a Gift Card which felt impersonal.
TheGLink.com was an idea that I created to help solve what I felt was a dilemma in a lot of peoples
fast paced lives.
TheGLink.com launched globally on October 13 . This site really lends itself to people who have
friends and family overseas, Tracey said so I felt it was important to make it a truly global service.
