Shoppers Off and Running at 36-Hour Seafood Marathon
Shoppers are off the starting blocks at the Sydney Fish Market 36-Hour Seafood Marathon, expected to purchase over 850 tonnes of seafood during the event.
Doors opened at 5am this morning, with Sydney-siders invited to fill their seafood baskets throughout the day and night until 5pm tomorrow, Thursday, 24 December.
The 36-hour Seafood Marathon is designed to take the hassle out of Christmas preparations as families choose to take the heat out of the kitchen on Christmas day with a seafood barbeque feast or a delicious cool seafood platter.
Prawns, oysters and Snapper are expected to be among the favourites on tables around Sydney this Christmas.
Each minute Sydney-siders will buy:
* Almost 1,000 oysters
* 93kg of Snapper
* 83kg of prawns

WHERE: Sydney Fish Market, Bank St, Pyrmont
Parking is available at Sydney Fish Market for a flat rate of $3.00 for two hours. Additional parking will be available at Sydney Secondary College, Blackwattle Bay Campus. Entrance is via Pyrmont Bridge Road and just a two minute walk to Sydney Fish Market.
The Metro Light Rail will operate continuously to the Sydney Fish Market stop throughout the 36-hour trade.
